The Telegraph reports that the apple rain is just the latest oddity in a series of bizarre deluges, most occurring over the past 2 years.

Residents, officials and scientists were left baffled in June 2009 by an apparent downfall of dead tadpoles in central Japan’s Ishikawa prefecture….
And it sounds like they haven’t even heard about the disappearing blackbirds in North Carolina, or the thousands of migrating grebes that just crashed down into Cedar City, Utah parking lots and roads.
Perhaps a rainmaker named Daryl is behind all this.

Eeeew…seems to have happened fairly frequently in the mid to late 1800′s in California. I can’t begin to come up with a theory on that one.
