Phil Potter, a sports columnist with the Evansville, Indiana, Courier & Press, reports that outdoor sports enthusiasts are observing a disturbing scarcity of small wildlife in this article, Numbers seem to be thinning for rabbits, birds, posted on December 17.

He says that local hunters are beginning to wonder if something truly ‘sinister’ is going on and theories being considered range from genetically modified grains to poisons.

Could be since we have one big company perversely engineering grain crops to tolerate heavier and heavier applications of one of its own poisons, and then we have the USDA and various independent contractors on a tear using DRC-1399.

Maybe its time to consider the possibility of ‘overkill’ caused by overuse of pesticides due to the lobbying efforts of US chemical companies before it’s too late for the national bird – and us?
